FM 2499 - Grand Opening
Section 4 of FM 2499 in Highland Village is nearing completion and will open to the public on Saturday, October 30, 2010. Section 4 includes the much-anticipated bridge that will connect FM 2499 in Highland Village with FM 2181 in the City of Corinth, traversing a portion of Lake Lewisville. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is being planned in conjunction with the City and the County to be held the morning of October 30, prior to the official opening of the road. You are invited and encouraged to attend the event before driving across the new bridge.
The expansion of FM 2499, Section 4 through Highland Village from FM 407 to FM 2181 was awarded to Ed Bell Construction Company with an anticipated completion date of July 2011. Ed Bell Construction finished the project ahead of schedule with the opening now set for October 30. FM 2499 Section 4 is a four-lane divided urban arterial from FM 407 to FM 2181 in southern Denton County. The roadway would be a non-controlled access facility, 4.7 miles in length, with intersections at existing crossing roads. It will travel through or abut the City of Highland Village, the Town of Copper Canyon, unincorporated Denton County land, the Town of Corinth, and USACE land and water associated with the Poindexter and Hickory Creek Branches of Lewisville Lake.
