For as long as I can remember, college football has been a big part of my life. This season marks an especially wonderful new beginning for the University of North Texas! The much awaited University of North Texas Stadium (Apogee Stadium) will be opening!

The first home game for UNT will be September 10^th, 2011 in Denton, Texas against Houston. If you are one of the lucky to attend the first home game, you will enjoy a spectacular football game! Die-hard football fans will also be happy to know that season tickets start at $100!

Apogee Stadium includes many luxury suites, an on-site spirit store, concession stands, and so much more! If you have been on the north side of Denton this past week you may have noticed an increase in activity! Not only are students coming back to Texas Woman's University and the University of North Texas, but the North Texas State Fair is in town!

The North Texas State Fair is certainly a great place to check out. From the rodeo to live music, carnival rides to corny dogs, there is something for everyone. They even have fun pony rides for the kiddos! Inside exhibit halls you can see the arts, crafts, photography & food that were entered by Denton residents. Some travel from miles to attend this once-a-year festival of fun.

The music scene in Denton has always been great. With UNT being an internationally recognized Music school, Denton has had some wonderful musical acts com through. This year at the North Texas State Fair, music lovers will be happy to know that bands such as the Josh Abbot Band, Jack Ingram, and the Randy Rogers Band are set to perform!
